00:00When planning a holiday we all check how many stars a hotel has but what do they
00:04really mean and who decides? In Australia the official star rating system is
00:09managed by Star Ratings Australia, part of the Australian Tourism Industry
00:14Council. Properties are judged on quality, cleanliness and facilities with ratings
00:19ranging from one star basic to five star luxury. Star ratings aren't all the same
00:24though as they're dependent on what type of accommodation you're in. A basic
00:28motor in could get 3.5 stars even if it's not that plush because the
00:32expectation for amenities and luxury versus a 3.5 star hotel is quite
00:37different. Of course with the rise of social media and influences personal
00:42experiences and recommendations are becoming just as important as star
00:46ratings. I think that's inherent in the way we we live and breathe today and it
00:50is about having the interest, the inquisity of reading what other people's
00:56experiences. People like to have verification, they like to have
01:00enforcement that I'm buying the right product.
