00:03:44In our own backyard, ghouls and goblins

00:03:47have already begun their door-to-door quest for sugary snacks.

00:03:51So, with kids staying out late and causing mischief,

00:03:54how can you assure your child's safety?

00:03:58Well, have no fear.

00:04:00Officer Donald Bookwalter has some trick-or-treating tips

00:04:03to keep you and your family safe.

00:04:06Halloween is a great night for little kids

00:04:08to dress up in costumes and pretend.

00:04:11But we can't pretend that the threat of danger is not out there, too.

00:04:15Here are some tips to help you and your little monsters

00:04:17play it safe on this, the most eerie of evenings.

00:04:20One, all trick-or-treaters must be accompanied by

00:04:24a trusted adult, someone they know.

00:04:27Not a stranger, not someone they met at school,

00:04:30and not the guy that drives the ice cream truck.

00:04:33Two, inspect all your treats before you eat them.

00:04:36That way you're not accidentally eating a razor blade

00:04:38or a needle infected with the AIDS virus.

00:05:14to learn more about his third annual Cash for Candy program.

00:05:20While some of us may be afraid of demons and vampires,

00:05:24a dentist's worst nightmare is...

00:05:27Halloween. Halloween is a dentist's worst nightmare.

00:05:31Dr. Stanley Allen is fighting tooth and nail

00:05:34to get kids to give up their precious sweet treats for charity.

00:05:38I'm not against Halloween or candy,

00:05:41but everything should be in moderation.

00:05:44No kid needs to eat five pounds of chocolate.

00:05:48It's just not healthy.

00:05:50Here's the drill.

00:05:52For every pound of candy your child brings to Dr. Allen's office,

00:06:17A touching tribute this evening at the home of David Kim.

00:06:21Today marks the one-year anniversary of the seven-year-old's tragic murder.

00:06:26I just can't believe he's gone.

00:06:30Last Halloween, David knocked on the door

00:06:33of retired military service member Colonel John Regis.

00:06:38Young David, dressed in his army fatigue costume,

00:06:42was looking for treats.

00:06:44What he found was devastating.

00:06:47Suffering from shell shock,

00:06:50Regis mistook the child for a Vietnamese soldier.

00:06:54He shot the seven-year-old trick-or-treater,

00:06:57fatally wounding him.

00:06:59I mean, he loved G.I. Joe.

00:07:10Despite his mental illness, Regis was convicted of first-degree murder.

00:07:14Tonight, he sits on death row, awaiting execution.

00:09:52to get a response to a commercial summer calling.

00:10:05against these programs in the Assembly.

00:10:07He is for big business against what's good for the people.

00:25:52supernatural rumors.

00:26:30It all started

00:26:31in the summer of 1967.

00:26:33Teenager Donald Weber

00:26:35discovered an old

00:26:36wooden spirit board

00:26:37in the attic

00:26:38of the new house

00:26:39he and his family

00:26:40had just moved into.

00:26:42The spirit board,

00:26:43a device critics believe

00:26:44opens a doorway

00:26:45to both spirits and demons,

00:26:47quickly became

00:26:48Donald's obsession.

00:26:50Over the course

00:26:51of the next few months,

00:26:52Donald's fixation

00:26:53with the occult skyrocketed

00:26:55and his use of the game

00:26:56became a daily routine.

00:26:58In his later

00:26:59court testimonies,

00:27:00Weber claimed that

00:27:01spirits from the board

00:27:02were contacting him,

00:27:04demanding that he commit

00:27:05serious criminal acts.

00:27:07Vandalism,

00:27:08theft,

00:27:09and even

00:27:10murder.

00:27:12And then one fateful night

00:27:13in September 1967,

00:27:15Donald Weber

00:27:16took an axe,

00:27:17creeped into his

00:27:18parents' bedroom,

00:27:20and decapitated them.

00:27:22Weber called

00:27:23the police himself,

00:27:24and when authorities

00:27:25arrived,

00:27:26they found young Donald

00:27:27sitting on the curb,

00:27:29mumbling about how

00:27:30the demons made him do it.

00:27:32He was convicted

00:27:33of first-degree murder

00:27:34and executed in 1981.

00:27:37But since these

00:27:38heinous crimes,

00:27:39no one ever moved back

00:27:40into the accursed

00:27:41Weber house.

00:27:42Local eccentrics

00:27:43believe it to be haunted,

00:27:45an actual passageway

00:27:46between our world

00:27:47and the spirit world,

00:27:48a building where

00:27:49demons and spooks

00:27:50can roam free

00:27:52and threaten

00:27:57about disturbances

00:28:24comes towards me,

00:28:25only she's not walking.

00:28:27She's floating.

00:28:30And as she gets closer,

00:28:31all of a sudden,

00:28:32her head falls off

00:28:34and hits the floor.

00:28:35I blink my eyes,

00:28:36and she's gone.

00:28:38I walk outside,

00:28:39and there's the entire squad

00:28:40looking at me.

00:28:42The sergeant comes up to me,

00:28:43and he says,

00:28:44now, what you've seen,

00:28:45we've all seen,

00:28:47and we don't talk about it.

00:28:50Whether you believe

00:28:51in ghosts or not,

00:28:52it's safe to say

00:28:53this place sure feels haunted.
