00:00And an update on a very key player from Dr. Chow in the National Basketball Association.
00:12That's where we're going to begin because Chris Stapps Porzingis at the very least looks
00:16to potentially be out for a period of time.
00:19How long is to be determined?
00:21The team right now is saying that he suffered what's called a rare injury to his leg.
00:25We don't know exactly what that is.
00:27Dr. Chow will tell us in about 10 minutes.
00:30He's day to day for the finals.
00:33They're sort of calling it like a calf strain.
00:36It's kind of hard to describe because he had this in the second quarter of Boston's game
00:41four against the Miami Heat.
00:44And actually he came back from that still to be determined as to whether or not he's
00:49going to play.
00:51Now again, the last 24 hours kind of dicey.
00:53We know the Celtics are going to need him at some point in this series.
00:56The question is what the procedure will be getting him back on the court potentially for
01:01game three, game four, or if a game five is played.
01:05Here is the head coach of the Celtics, Joe Mazzullo, who was asked about what's next.
01:08Yeah, I mean, listen, he's doing anything and everything he can to be ready for the
01:13game tomorrow.
01:16It's a much, it's a serious injury.
01:19And at the end of the day, our team and the medical team is not going to put him in any
01:25bad situations.
01:26And so we've taken a decision to play out of his hands because of the importance of
01:30him.
01:31And so he's going to do everything he can to play and then we're going to leave it up
01:33to our medical team.
01:36And that's, that's really it.
01:37Yeah.
01:38And right now it seems as though they're saying that he could potentially play, but it still
01:42remains to be seen as far as Porzingis himself is concerned.
01:46He is ruling nothing out for game three, game four, and even the remainder of the playoffs.
01:53He's leaning on the medical staff, as he told the media yesterday.
01:56It's kind of a random situation.
01:58Yeah.
01:59And I felt something and now I have to deal with it.
02:02So as we said, yeah, it's going to be day to day and I'll see how I am tomorrow.
02:10And obviously I'm going to do everything I can to be out there tomorrow and we'll see.
02:15Are you optimistic?
02:16I am.
02:17Of course I have to be.
02:18I'm optimistic.
02:20And as I said, I will do everything I can to be out there tomorrow.
02:25And yeah, we'll see.
02:27What would you have to endure when it comes to that?
02:29It's just a pain threshold at this point.
02:31Do you do more damage to it if you do play in these finals?
02:34I don't know.
02:35I don't know the specifics, but you know, that's, that's something I leave in the medical
02:41staff's hands to, to determine whether, you know, I can go or no.
02:45From my side, like, as I said, there's nothing's going to stop me unless, you know, I'm told
02:54not to or not allowed to play.
02:56So that's the only reason I will not be out there.
02:59There's Chris Stapps Porzingis.
03:01Now, as far as an expert on the field of this injury, we have our very own Dr. Chow weighing
03:07in on what the future could hold for Porzingis.
03:10In fact, Chow seems to be skeptical that he will suit up tonight.
03:14At this point, we fully expect Christophe Porzingis to miss the rest of the NBA finals,
03:20even though he's listed as day-to-day.
03:23Day-to-day may mean he can post up and shoot a three, but don't see him being a defensive
03:28force or rim protector or being able to move around effectively with this posterior tibialis
03:34tendon dislocation.
03:36Remember, it's a torn medial retinaculum.
03:39Which is a sheath that holds the tendon behind the medial or inside of the ankle.
03:45That tendon is flipped over the top and will require surgery to fix it.
03:51Dealt with it before in football and basketball players.
03:55Unable to play through.
