Elena Plotkin - The Hurt Doesn't Show
The tears don't seem to run,
when you're offering me a rose.
The hurt doesn't seem to show,
when you're holding me close.
When you're dancing with me,
to our favorite love song,
I can't seem to recall,
what you did that was so wrong.
You twirl me around,
and around and around,
And suddenly I'm more lost
than I ever was found.
And when your lips touch my own,
it's like I'm standing,
in quicksand.
And when you dip me over your arm,
I think,
what is the harm
if I succumb,
once more to your charm
and get lost,
in your smile
while you stare,
deep into my eyes?
Who cares,
if your broken promises
shoo away like flies?
Of course, I am weak,
and easily misled,
by the sweet words,
that you fill in my head.
But what can I say,
that you don't already know?
I'll always fall
for the dog and pony show.
It should be very clear,
if it isn't already.
My heart never beats
so loud or so steady,
As when I believe,
in the fairytale of today,
And ignore all the lies,
that you sprouted yesterday.
