00:00 How long have you been considering retirement and how hard are weighing up the pros and cons of it has it been for you?
00:07 I mean, I really only decided like 10 days ago. I was still riding. I was still training 10 days ago
00:12 And so that was like the definite end point when I rang my agent and was just like I think I want to announce it
00:17 But to be honest, it's been in my head a little while when Monty came and he was born a year before the Paris Olympics
00:24 I always knew that that was going to be a massive mountain to climb
00:28 And it was just a really different mindset that I was in this time when I had my first child
00:33 I was a hundred percent committed. I was just so in and I wanted it really badly was when Monty came
00:40 I was finding myself not really wanting the grandparents to look after him
00:44 I wanted to do it myself and it's just felt really different that I think I always sort of had an inkling in my head that
00:50 Whether or not I carried on post the Olympics, I didn't think I would make it to the Olympics
00:56 I thought I might go to a World Championships. Mm-hmm, but then I just thought I'm not fully committed to this
01:02 And that's never been me as an athlete. I've just always been so committed
01:05 I didn't want to waste anyone's time and then I started to get these horrible feelings of I need to go to a race
01:11 I need to leave the kids
01:12 I need to go on these training camps and I didn't want to and those were the warning signs
01:16 ones.
