Perikatan Nasional announced its new shadow Cabinet but kept everyone guessing about its choice for a shadow prime minister.

At a media conference on Thursday (Feb 8), Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said that the new line-up was more focused keeping in line with the changes made in the last Cabinet reshuffle on Dec 12, but refused to divulge who the Opposition MP shadowing the Prime Minister would be and merely stated that the Perikatan chairman was Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was the eighth PM.

06:19 [LAUGHTER]
06:28 [INTERPOSING VOICES]
06:29 - Time will come when you know who's
06:41 going to be our prime minister.
06:44 And I don't think we should announce this year
06:47 that who's going to be our prime minister.
06:50 I'll give you one example.
06:52 Tan Sri Mahidin is my president.
06:55 There's nothing wrong for him.
06:58 He was a prime minister.
07:00 And he came down just because a group of people
07:03 from Amno or Barisan National withdrew their support to him.
07:07 Is that fair to say that he stepped down?
07:09 No.
07:10 He's still got a chance.
07:12 There's nothing wrong for us to promote him again
07:14 as a prime minister.
07:16 Why is it that we have to suddenly now say
07:19 that we have someone else, whereas he's
07:22 the chairman of our Perikatan Nasional at the moment?
07:26 - There was some talk about what they call unhappiness
07:30 on behalf of Besatu for the fact that Dr.
07:35 Sansuri was made as a calon.
07:38 In fact, Tan Sri Mahidin himself said during the,
07:42 what he called the by-election, that Dr.
07:45 Sansuri is a potential PM.
07:47 So is there unhappiness in Besatu between PAS and Besatu?
07:53 - Let me tell you this.
07:55 We started with 74.
07:58 That was our numbers.
08:01 And after that, at the moment we reduced to 68.
08:10 68.
08:12 Out of those 68, it includes two presidents of our party.
08:20 One, Tan Sri Mahidin, is our president of my party, Besatu.
08:25 And secondly, Tuguru Hadi Hadi Awam,
08:28 is the president of another big party.
08:32 And Dr. Sansuri is vice president of PAS.
08:40 And today, next to me, is my vice president.
08:46 In terms of hierarchy of party,
08:50 he is actually in a much higher position than myself.
08:55 But here today, I'm chairing it just because
08:58 I am chairing a portfolio meeting for us to discuss on matters,
09:03 especially looking after the interests of the people in this country.
09:11 And there's nothing wrong for us to sit down and look into it.
09:16 What we do normally is just to brief our presidents,
09:20 our leaders, what we feel right for us to struggle,
09:25 our struggle to fight in this country.
09:28 And this is what we have been doing.
09:30 And I think we are all so very happy,
09:32 either it is from PAS or Besatu,
09:34 we are all very happy together,
09:36 and we are all here fighting together
09:39 for the sake of the people of this country.
09:42 [Drumming]
09:44 [Silence]
