00:00 Around 425 million people around the globe will see the fireworks in Sydney, which is
00:07 one of the first cities to ring in the new year. Of course the star of the show as always
00:11 will be the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and the gorgeous harbour. But we're
00:15 also told by the City of Sydney that its fireworks display is widely regarded as one of the biggest
00:20 and most technologically advanced in the world. This year it's taken about 4,000 hours of
00:25 planning and staging to put on the show, which will include 58,000 individual fireworks.
00:31 Now the colour scheme of this year's fireworks we're told is around warmth and the sun.
00:36 The overall theme of the night is one night, many ways to celebrate. But there's also a
00:40 special emphasis on Indigenous culture, with images of Aboriginal warrior Pemulwuy and
00:45 other Indigenous figures like Cathy Freeman and Adam Goodes projected on the pylons of
00:49 the Harbour Bridge before the nine o'clock fireworks.
00:52 We thought it was very important to showcase the strength, the pride, resilience and the
00:58 black joy that we have out in our community. So we're going to have our warriors up there
01:04 with us on the Harbour Bridge, some of the greatest of all time. We've got pictures of
01:09 Patti Mills, Cathy Freeman, Adam Goodes, Barker. Yeah, just to be there with us and showcase
01:16 our, again, our strength and resilience.
01:18 We're also told there'll be a special appearance from the ABC's own beloved Blue Heelers,
01:23 Bluey and Bingo. So they've obviously been allowed to stay up late for the party, which
01:27 will also be broadcast live on all ABC platforms and feature a concert from the Opera House
01:32 Steps featuring Indigenous singer Jessica Mowboy and King Stingray. We'll see you out 2023.
