00:00 It is one step closer to getting mom and dad home.
00:03 - Because God didn't bring us this far to drop us off.
00:06 - Todd Chrisley speaking out from prison.
00:08 - I got a call this morning
00:11 and the appeals court has granted our oral arguments.
00:15 - After Savannah shared a major appeal update
00:18 Monday on TikTok,
00:19 the family's attorney, Jay Surgent,
00:21 tells ET in a statement,
00:23 Todd is extremely pleased
00:25 and the news made his holiday season.
00:28 - Thanksgiving when?
00:29 - The attorney goes on to say
00:30 there's a reasonably good chance
00:32 of getting the case remanded or reversed.
00:35 And for Savannah, who's blasted her mom
00:37 and dad's alleged living conditions behind bars,
00:40 any news is good news.
00:42 - I literally was sobbing.
00:44 - Well, I would like to say that they're doing well,
00:47 but they're not.
00:48 Anybody incarcerated is not doing well.
00:51 - She just had snakes literally
00:54 right there where her bed is.
00:57 - It's not 200 years ago.
00:59 It's 2023 and people should not have to live
01:03 in inhumane conditions.
01:05 - It's just amazing.
01:05 So the week of March 25th,
01:08 we will have oral arguments.
01:09 Only about 6% of cases that are submitted
01:12 for oral arguments get accepted.
01:13 - I don't think that number is accurate.
01:15 They do grant oral argument
01:18 a larger percentage of the time.
01:20 - So this is huge news.
01:22 - But is this wishful thinking
01:23 by the Chrisley Knows Best stars?
01:25 Legal expert, Nima Rahmani, told us what comes next
01:29 for Todd and Julie,
01:30 as the couple serves a combined 15-year prison sentence
01:34 following their convictions for bank fraud and tax evasion.
01:38 - So after the judges hear oral argument,
01:40 they'll get together and they'll make a decision.
01:42 It may be a unanimous decision
01:44 or it may be a two-one decision.
01:46 But one of two things will happen.
01:47 The conviction will either be affirmed,
01:50 that means it stands,
01:51 and the Chrisleys will remain in custody,
01:54 or the trial court's decision will be reversed.
01:57 And usually when that happens,
01:59 they'll be granted a whole new trial.
02:02 - I'm just done with it.
02:03 I'm over it.
02:04 - So you think your parents are innocent?
02:05 - 100%.
02:06 - The Chrisleys don't have a good chance on appeal
02:09 because appellate judges,
02:11 they can only reverse the case if there's a legal error.
02:15 Here, the Chrisleys argue that they were factually innocent.
02:18 That's something that a jury has to decide, not judges.
02:22 - The kids are freaking out.
02:23 I'm freaking out.
02:24 I got to explain it to Chloe.
02:26 - Yeah, Savannah's been parenting younger siblings,
02:29 Grayson and Chloe.
02:30 The update comes soon after she explained to ET
02:33 why the holidays would look a little different this year.
02:36 What are the plans to go and visit them?
02:38 - We haven't really figured it out yet
02:39 'cause this is the first holidays.
02:41 And they've said,
02:42 "My children are not spending their holidays
02:45 visiting a prison."
02:46 They're like, "We're just, you're not doing that."
02:48 Hopefully things go in our favor
02:50 and they'll be home sooner than later.
