00:00 Hi, I'm Elisa Priddle with Motor Trend and this is the 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid.
00:12 We've had this generation of CR-V for a couple years now.
00:15 In fact, it was our 2018 SUV of the year.
00:19 Other parts of the world have had a hybrid, but finally here in the US, we have the CR-V
00:25 Hybrid.
00:27 We'll get her mixed up with the regular one and to give you a couple of subtle clues that
00:31 this is different, we do have a little bit of blue badging that says hybrid, a little
00:36 on the side panel and on the tailgate.
00:38 If you look at the fog lamps, we've got these five little lamp fog lamps.
00:43 That is exclusive to the hybrid.
00:47 What's really cool about this latest generation of two motor hybrid system is that it picks
00:54 which form of propulsion to give you.
00:56 It can go in pure EV mode, it can go in hybrid mode and it can go gasoline only.
01:01 What the vehicle does is it chooses depending on where you're driving, how you're driving,
01:06 which mode to go into to give you the best performance and the best efficiency.
01:11 In terms of efficiency, this will get about 40 miles per gallon in the city and about
01:16 35 on highway driving.
01:21 In terms of power, we're looking at 212 horsepower, 232 pound feet of torque.
01:28 This will be the fastest off the line of the CR-V family.
01:33 This will ride on either 18 or 19 inch wheels and all wheel drive standard across all of
01:39 the trim levels.
01:41 This is also the same system that you can find in the Honda Insight or the Honda Accord.
01:46 From all of our testing, this is really an admirable system.
01:50 Honda does a really nice job.
01:53 The other area that Honda impresses us is with their safety suite.
01:57 A lot of safety features are standard on their vehicles and they really have the sensors
02:02 to make this car alert you to leaving a lane, to the car in front of you getting too close,
02:07 backing you up, pedestrians going by, rear cross traffic alert.
02:12 All the things you want to do to prevent an accident are available as part of Honda's
02:16 suite of safety features.
02:18 Inside, it's very much like its regular gasoline sisters, but one really important difference,
02:26 the shifter.
02:27 It's push button now.
02:28 That's kind of a trend we're starting to see in a lot of vehicles.
02:32 It is finally going on sale and this vehicle will start about $29,000.
02:37 I think maybe this should be a really good boost to CR-V overall sales because when they
02:42 added the hybrid to the Accord, they really did see a bump in sales.
02:48 People are still embracing hybrids.
02:50 I think if you take a popular vehicle like the CR-V and you give people this extra option,
02:55 I think there are a lot of people who might raise their hand for that.
