George Crossman's Fatal Crash @ Brands Hatch 1965

Britain's race car driver George Crossman, aged 37, of Minehead, Somerset, England, fatally crashed on the second lap of the Boxing Days' Lombank Trophy, the last race of the 1965 Formula 3 season in the United Kingdom.
The accident happened on Sunday, 26 December 1965. While traveling at a speed of 80 mi/h (129 km/h), the nearside front wheel of George Crossman's Cooper T76 - Ford hit the verge as he came out of Paddock Hill bend. The driver lost control of the car which left the track, crashed into a hoarding and overturned.
George Crossman suffered a fractured skull and was taken to Brook General Hospital, Woolwich, and later transferred to Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, Sussex, where he was in a coma for a week and did not regain consciousness until he passed away on Saturday, 01 January 1966.
George Crossman was survived by his wife, one daughter and two sons. Winner of the race was Piers Courage in Charles Lucas' Lotus 41 - Ford.
