00:00 Could the Abbey Inn in Bramley be Leeds' most haunted pub?
00:05 There's certainly been many reports that these are not the only spirits within the venue.
00:10 Around about 1820s to 1822 is when it first actually became established as an inn
00:18 from the local landlord Pollard, which is obviously what all this area is known for.
00:24 Sadly because of the area there was a lot of suicides in the river,
00:27 when they started building the canal there was a lot of deaths through building the canal.
00:32 So they used to hold the bodies in the back area of our pub
00:35 and then obviously they'd have the inquest and away they'd go with the bodies.
00:41 I've seen somebody pass through, sort of walk through the front and then just disappear,
00:47 but there used to be steps going upstairs, so it was as if they were walking there and then carried on,
00:53 even though the steps aren't there anymore.
00:56 Regularly when I'm in and around doing jobs or bits and pieces,
01:01 especially in the back area or the ladies' toilets, somebody comes in after you.
01:06 So the doors open, they come in, or you can hear them.
01:12 It used to be a wooden floor in the back, you could hear walking or knocking or dropping something on the wooden floors.
01:18 I've had somebody shout in my ear, which was the only time I've actually locked the pub up
01:22 and stood outside and gone, 'No, I'm not having this.'
01:25 They used to play with the old gas pumps down in the cellar,
01:29 so when you change a keg you have to switch the gases around.
01:34 They used to always switch them off.
01:37 Don't know why, so that was their little prank.
01:40 We've had a lot of glassware knocking off bits and pieces.
01:45 People have seen people passing through walls and coming out the other end.
01:49 Maybe the wall wasn't there.
01:51 We've had a lot of customers, grown men, who used to have a pool table in the back area,
01:57 so they'd be in there playing pool, and they've actually come out, they've seen something,
02:02 what they described either as a man or somebody stood there,
02:06 and they've actually broken down into tears and walked out.
02:10 Complete non-believers, didn't think anything, but literally I don't know what it was.
02:16 I've never seen that one, but a few customers have.
02:19 We've had a lot of children coming out of the ladies' toilets,
02:23 saying that they've seen a child dressed really weirdly.
02:28 I don't work nights that much, but when I used to, it feels a bit uneasy down there.
02:33 Do you?
02:34 No, nothing wrong, but when all the lights are off, you don't feel right.
02:41 You hear a few things, a few noises, lights flickering, that sort of stuff.
02:46 You don't feel alone, but you don't feel uneasy or unsafe or anything like that.
02:51 But loads of people coming in saying, "Oh my gosh, your pub's really busy, isn't it?"
02:55 And there's nobody in who can sense it.
02:58 There's a lot of people walking around, I'm like, "Okay, really? Thanks for sharing."
