In Berlin there is a wide range of public transport to explore the city and the surrounding area. Transportation includes S-Bahn, U-Bahn, bus, tram, ferry and regional train. These means of transport belong to different transport companies.

The Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) is there so that you don't have to differentiate between transport companies when buying a ticket. All companies are grouped together.

You only need one ticket and can use all public transport !

Checklist for the right ticket:

1 - Determine fare zones: The fare zones are displayed in different shades of gray in the route network .

2 - Set Duration/Frequency: Determine how long and how often you travel to potentially save on the ticket purchase.

3 - Buying a ticket: You can buy your ticket at the points of sale , at the machines or in the online shop .

4 - Validating the ticket before departure: Please make sure that you do not have to validate the ticket . This can be seen on the tickets. Since some tickets expire after a certain time, we recommend that you only validate them shortly before you start your journey. The validation machines are located at the stations next to the ticket machines . There you insert the ticket into the slot and stamp it.
