The Newest Nuclear-Powered Cruise Missile Submarines That Enemy Fears.

The Yasen class, Russian designations Project 885 Yasen and Project 885M Yasen-M, NATO reporting name: Severodvinsk, also referred to as the Graney class, are a series of the newest nuclear-powered cruise missile submarines designed by the Malakhit Marine Engineering Bureau and built by Sevmash for the Russian Navy. Based on the Akula class and Alfa class designs, the Yasen class is projected to replace the Russian Navy's current Soviet-era nuclear attack submarines. Yasen-class submarines have a submerged displacement of 13,800 tons and can reach a maximum speed of up to thirty-five knots. The Yasen-M revision brings revamped onboard electronics, a slightly reduced overall length, and reportedly a new KTP-6 rector that is believed to reduce the submarine’s noise levels. We conclude that the newest Yasen-class is the most advanced and powerful class of submarines that have ever served the Soviet and Russian navies.
