Drone footage of the site of proposed new super jail, HMP Glasgow which will replace HMP Barlinnie. The site is on the doorstep of Germiston in the north of the city of Glasgow.
The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) unveiled proposals for the jail which will house up to 1,200 inmates.
It is sited close to the Provan gas works in the north-east of the city and will replace the Victorian-era Barlinnie which has been criticised for overcrowding and is "no longer fit for purpose"
The new facility, HMP Glasgow, is planned to accommodate adult male offenders in blocks "designed to appear like an office development or student accommodation".
Cells will come complete with ensuite facilities while communal education and activities areas will resemble a college lounge.
