Strawberry farmers face losses due to coronavirus lockdown, sell fruit cheaply | Oneindia News
- 4 years ago
It's strawberry season and a little village in the outskirts of Srinagar is witnessing a buzz in activity and a bountiful harvest, but there are few takers of this juicy red fruit. Due to the coronavirus lockdown strawberry sales have taken a beating. The berry is grown as a cash crop in this season, but farmers are being forced to sell the harvest cheaply. Farmers here started growing strawberries some years ago as the fruit rose in popularity and demand spiked in many metro cities across India.
