An unusual method of stealing cash from an ATM turned comical in the early hours of this morning (November 30th) when a group of bungling thieves in western India fled with the machine but left the money behind.

The incident, which was caught on CCTV cameras, took place in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Footage shows a man with his face covered entering the ATM booth and seeming to hatch a plan to steal the machine.

Next, two others enter and try to detach the machine from the wall, while one of them breaks the security camera inside.

However, the CCTV outside shows the two carrying a rope inside, tying it to the machine and the other end to the back of a pick-up truck.

They then get inside the truck, drive away but seem to come away with just about everything from the ATM booth apart from the money.

According to local reports, the failed attempt created a lot of noise which alerted locals who informed the police.
