MTR stations shut and police fire tear gas in Sha Tin after Hong Kong protesters start fire and desecrate Chinese flag

Anti-government protesters in Hong Kong took over shopping malls in Sha Tin and Nam Cheong on September 22, targeting businesses linked to mainland China, or seen as being pro-police or pro-government, and forcing them to close. The chaos in Sha Tin then escalated as protesters desecrated a national flag, built barricades and set fires, resulting in tear gas fired by police.
