People flock to Chiang Mai Zoo in Thailand as death of giant panda sparks outrage in China

The video, filmed on Friday (September 20) shows Thai visitors at Chiang Mai Zoo writing farewell messages in memory of Chuang Chuang, a giant panda.

Chuang Chuang, a giant male panda died on Monday afternoon (September 16) aged 19.

An autopsy by experts from the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda is imminent.

The giant bear arrived at Chiang Mai Zoo, Thailand from China in 2003 under a loan arrangement.

Chinese citizens have posted over 260 million messages on Weibo, many demanding the return of female panda Lin Hui who occupies an adjacent enclosure.
