MANILA - For a second day, President Aquino visited flood-hit communities, this time in Cavite, to distribute relief goods. His first stop on Thursday was at the Tinabunan Elementary School in Imus where around 178 families are temporarily taking shelter. He then proceeded to Kawit, which was also submerged in floods. The President said the Department of Public Works and Highways is taking steps to solve the perennial flooding in Cavite. On Wednesday, the President visited flood victims in Biñan and San Pedro, Laguna. He was earlier criticized on social media for his alleged lack of visibility at the height of the calamity. Aquino said he has been closely monitoring the situation since Sunday and has been in touch with Cabinet and local officials by phone. ANC Dateline Philippines, August 22, 2013
