Dozens of protesters gathered outside Dragon Centre shopping centre, near Sham Shui Po Police Station, on the evening of August 14, 2019 to burn traditional joss paper and incense to mark the Hungry Ghost Festival.  Soon protesters began to shine laser beams at the police station and some chanted “black cops” and “return the eye”. After giving warnings the Hong Kong police fired several rounds of tear gas to disperse the crowd.
