Ronald Reagan Uses Racist Term
in Newly Revealed Audio.
In the clip, the former U.S. president is
heard calling African delegates at
the United Nations "monkeys.".
The audio was released by Tim Naftali,
former president of the Richard Nixon
Presidential Library and Museum.
According to Naftali, Reagan made the comments in a phone call with then-president Nixon in 1971 when he was the
Governor of California.
Reagan was not happy when representatives of Tanzania
began dancing after a vote was confirmed to recognize
the People's Republic of China.
China had been granted a seat instead of Taiwan, who Reagan was a staunch defender of.
To see those, those monkeys from those African countries -- damn them, they're still uncomfortable wearing shoes!, Ronald Reagan, via audio clip.
The phone call between Nixon and Reagan
was originally unearthed back in 2000.
But the portion that had Reagan using the racist term had not been revealed until now.
