Uphaar tragedy: Ansal brothers fined Rs 60 crore, escape jail

In a major relief to the Ansal brothers, convicts in the 1997 Uphaar fire tragedy, the Supreme Court on Wednesday said that they will not be sent to jail. However, the apex court imposed a fine of Rs 60 crores on them. The amount has to be paid in next three months. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10 lakhs on the concerned fire officer.
