PM's dinner with BJP top brass fails to break FDI logjam - NewsX

There's seems to be more parliamentary disruption to come today too. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's dinner for the BJP top brass last night failed to break the impasse over the FDI in retail issue. The BJP has underlined its stand for a discussion of FDI in retail under a rule that entails voting. BJP Parliamentary Party chief L K Advani along with senior party leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley attended the dinner with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath and Finance MInister P Chidambaram also present. The government maintains that since the decision to allow 51 per cent FDI in multi-brand retail was taken through an executive order, the issue can be discussed in Parliament but not put to vote.
