Storm Gordon made landfall near Alabama-Mississippi border on September 4, taking out power for thousands of households and killing at least one.

Mass evacuations were ordered for residents in the coastal parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and Alabama earlier in the day as strong winds and heavy rains battered the region.

This video, filmed on Navarre Beach in Santa Rosa County, Florida at around 5 pm that day, shows massive waves churning.

According to authorities, Gordon made landfall on the Gulf Coast just after 10 pm local time. About 24,000 customers were without power across the states as flooding and storm surge warnings remained in force.
