Here is a showy magical effect that is surprising and very colourful.
A magic wand is introduced to the audience, and can even be used to cause other magic to happen. Then at the appropriate time, a simple pass of the hand over the magic wand abruptly has the wand changing into a flower stem complete with a red bloom. As an option, the wand can instead be covered with a cloth or handkerchief. When the cover is removed, the wand has turned into the feather flower. Either way, it is an unexpected surprise that can be easily mastered by the youngest would-be magician.
