Sizzling summer heat to persist _ 072418

Good afternoon. While Korea and Japan are braving a severe heat wave this summer, heat is not the main concern for Beijing, as China's capital city has been seeing lots of showers due to the direct and indirect effect of typhoons.

Back here in Korea, Seoul and Daegu could see highs in the upper thirties. We could possibly see more record-breaking temperatures.

Heat will linger through the night and warm nights will only make the long heat wave more dangerous. This afternoon, Seoul will get up to 37 degrees Celsius, and Busan will hit 34 degrees.

We are seeing no relief from the heat, so drink plenty of water and avoid outdoor activities in the afternoon.

Similar sweltering temperatures have been felt across many parts of the world... tens of thousands of people have been hospitalized for heat-related illnesses so take precautions to stay healthy.

That's Korea for you and here's the international weather for viewers around the world.
