Vermont Passes Bill to Legalize Marijuana After Sessions Repeal Vermont legalized medical marijuana back in 2004 and decriminalized possession of small amounts. But the next move is to legalize marijuana, as long as it is carried in small amounts. The state House voted 81 to 63 on the bill Thursday, right after Attorney General Jeff Sessions reversed an Obama-era policy to loosen regulation on marijuana-friendly states According to CNN, the bill keeps public safety in mind and imposes strict penalties for driving high or sharing with children. Vermont will be the ninth U.S. state to have legalized marijuana should the bill pass the Senate.
