CLOVIS, NEW MEXICO — Three U.S. Air Force service members were killed after a plane crashed in New Mexico during a training flight on Tuesday evening.

According to ABC7, a U.S. Air Force U-28A aircraft crashed just outside Clovis Municipal Airport at around 6:50 p.m.

The aircraft was performing practice maneuvers known as a ‘touch-and-goes’, where the jet touches the runway but does not come to a complete stop, KOB reported.

The aircraft crashed a half mile near the airport and sparked a fire. Three airmen were killed.
