Black and Blue - Black Bottom Jazz Band Reunion 2007

This is another great tune we used to play together more than 55 years ago. Just like the repertoire of Holland’s Dutch Swing College Band, which we all admired in those years and actually still do today, we learned a lot from the recordings of Muggsy Spanier and his Ragtime Band. In 1939 Muggsy recorded 16 tunes in 4 sessions which were called the “Great Sixteen” These tunes were often sample staple for many jazz bands in the fifties and sixties.
Recorded in Bussum, The Netherlands on September 28 2007. with Arent Nieuwkamp on clarinet, Eduard Rahusen trombone, Rob Herwig piano, Wim de Vries bass, Ari van Mensvoort banjo and Bob Erwig cornet.
