Ancient salamander found in China cave

Footage of a wild giant salamander found in a cave in China which was about 1.4 metres long and weighed 52kg, roughly estimated to have lived for more than two hundred years.

The video, filmed in Chongqing Municipality on Monday, shows the ancient animal resting in a pool while an animal expert is giving it a health check-up.

According to news reports, the salamander was discovered during a geological development and is currently being kept in special protection.
