Private Detective Pink tries to identify who stole his breakfast, instead finding another crook.
Inspired by his hero, the "Scarlet Pinkernel," the Pink Panther takes it upon himself to save the canine world from the clutches of the menacing Dogcatcher. Despite his intentions, the dogs misinterpret the Panther as the source of their problems, and chase or bite him. Each time, he is able to escape and continues, undaunted, on his crusade. Eventually, though, his enthusiasm begins to cool, and he nearly drowns as a result of his good deeds. At the end of the day, stuck in tree, he reflects on the day's events. The dogs bark all around him, and, thoroughly disgusted with the lost campaign, the "Scarlet Pinkernel" goes to the dogs.
