Ferguson shooting grand jury verdict: Michael Brown’s stepfather shouts “burn this bitch down”

In the days leading up to the announcement of the Grand Jury’s decision not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson over the shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown in August, the father of Michael Brown called for peace and said if there were to be protests, people should refrain from violence.

A stark contrast from the behaviour of Michael brown’s stepfather, who in the minutes following the announcement of the grand jury starting shouting “Burn this bitch down,” possibly in reference to Ferguson Police Station.

In the hours following the grand jury’s decision, the town of Ferguson erupted into violent protests. Officials said that two police vehicles and around a dozen buildings were set on fire, and that an estimated 150 gunshots were fired during the demonstrations.

A total of 18 people were injured and at least 61 protesters were arrested.
