Parrot accident: woman claims her coffee-loving pet bird made her crash her car

A Pennsylvania woman crashed her car into a guardrail on Tuesday and then blamed her pet parrot for the single-vehicle accident.

Angel Holyfield, 35, was driving on Township Drive in South Union Township, when her pet parrot began pecking at her to-go cup of coffee.

Distracted, she swerved her car into a guardrail, according to Pittsburgh's Action 4 News.

Paramedics reportedly took the woman to the Uniontown Hospital for treatment of a broken forearm and lacerations.

The front of her Honda Accord suffered damage, but the parrot was uninjured. First responders told local media they found bird seed in the car and bird feathers.

Holyfield later explained her parrot is a frequent coffee drinker, the Herald Standard reported.

The accident occurred around 4:50 Tuesday afternoon.

Miles Layton of the Herald Standard reported there were 55 fatal car accidents due to distracted driving in the state of Pennsylvania last year.
