The main body of the stricken Ais Asia jet which disappeared from radar screens on December 28 was located by a military ship on Wednesday.

A Singaporean Navy vessel discovered the fuselage of Air Asia flight QZ8501 on January 14 in the Java Sea, roughly 3km from where the tail was recovered on January 11.

Pings from the plane’s flight recorders, 98 feet beneath the surface, helped Indonesian Navy ships narrow the search zone.

A remotely operated vehicle captured images of debris with text corresponds to sections of the Airbus A320-200’s fuselage and wings.

The stricken plane was located in an a narrowed search area, not far from where bodies were found floating days after the December 28 crash.

Navy divers are expected to find bodies among the wreckage on Thursday. So far just 48 bodies of 162 people on board have been recovered.
