Yemen: No halt to Saudi-led airstrikes despite calls for humanitarian pause

Saudi-led airstrikes have continued in Yemen in efforts to push back Shi’ite Houthi rebels.
But 11 civilians including children were killed in one village near the capital Sanaa, officials say.
The conflict has left many hundreds dead and injured.
Hence Russia and the Red Cross’s call for a pause to allow aid in and help get civilians out.
Moscow appealed to the UN Security Council, currently presided by Jordan.
“The Russian delegation circulated a draft resolution to the council members regarding humanitarian pauses in Yemen and expressed concerns over the humanitarian situation in Yemen since a long time. The Council members need time to reflect on the Russian proposal,” Dina Kawar, Jordanian Ambassador to the United Nations told reporters.
The Russian resolution, urging breaks in airstrikes, makes no demands for a halt to fighting by the Houthis who continue to gain ground in the southern port of Aden.
