FAA Proposal Puts A Damper On Amazon’s Drone Delivery Plans

The Federal Aviation Administration released new proposals for the commercial operations of unmanned crafts, and based on them the future of Amazon’s planned drone delivery service is not looking bright.

The Federal Aviation Administration released new proposals for the commercial operations of unmanned crafts, and based on them the future of Amazon’s planned drone delivery service is not looking bright.

According to the draft, the FAA intends to make flying the machines outside of the operator’s field of vision illegal.

Further, having them soar over crowds of people will not be allowed.

Amazon’s Prime Air initiative, which touted merchandise drop-offs occurring in as little as 30 minutes, weighed heavily on those two things being able to happen.

That doesn’t mean the company is just giving up.
