Ellington Medley - Duke Ellington 1959

Many of the Duke Ellington concerts in the fifties always featured a medley of his most renowned compositions. We listen to Black and Tan Fantasy, Creole Love Call and the Mooche. The Duke would often change the band’s musicians for this feature. This way the performance would stay fresh and fully inspired.
In this concert from Zurich, Switzerland on October 9 1959 the featured musicians are Russell Procope on alto sax and clarinet, Ray Nance on trumpet and Quentin Jackson on trombone.
