Drone Dunked by Downdraft From Coast Guard Helicopter

One unlucky pilot was left counting the cost after the downdraft from a Coast Guard helicopter knocked his drone into the sea at Newport Beach, California on August 27. Surfers, photographers and drone pilots had flocked Newport Beach as swell from Hurricane Marie generated waves as big as 25 feet.The National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory, warning that the swell, which has been described as the largest in a decade, would cause dangerous rip tides and possible flooding.
