MQM announces demonstrations against Raids by Plain-Cloth Security Personnel & Killings of its workers

Muttahida Quami Movement has announced that it would stage protest demonstrations on April 17 and April 18 against the raids by plain-cloth law enforcement personnel in double-cabin vehicles without number plates and arrest, torture and executions of workers and killings of professionals. They want to press the government to prosecute the personnel responsible for illegal raids, arrests and executions.
MQM has demanded that the Prime Minister, Federal Interior Minister, DG Rangers and IG Sindh should take action against these plain-cloth personnel and provided justice to the affected families. They announce compensation for the bereaved families and play their roles for the recovery of the arrested workers.
Haider Abbas Rizvi, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Abdur Rashid Godale, Saif yar Khan Aadil Khan, Gul Faraz Khattak and Aslam Afridi were present in the press conference.
Haider Abbas Rizvi said to journalists that MQM had repeatedly informed the government that law enforcement agencies about the raids conducted by plain-cloth personnel in double-cabin cars and abduction of MQM workers. He added that they torture these arrested people before executions and dump their mutilated bodies in the far flung areas of the city.
‘One such incident happened on April 13 in Country Tower, which is in Scheme 33. Plain-cloth law enforcement personnel arrested MQM’s five workers. We contacted police and rangers to know about their whereabouts. They denied that they have picked them up. These agencies always deny arrest of workers. Family members of these arrested visit 90 to know information about their loved ones. We witness emotional scene at 90. Plain-cloth law enforcement personnel have arrested 15 MQM workers this way. In the same way we do not know anything about the 21 victims of enforced disappearances. On April 13, they arrested 9 MQM workers and killed 4 of them after subjecting them to torture, “ Haider Abbas said.
“MQM’s 46 workers have become victims of enforced disappearances. We appeal to the government and law enforcement agencies for the recovery of our workers. They should inform us about their whereabouts and conditions. Denial of police and rangers does not solve the problem. Should we leave the problem to Allah? Should we not struggle for their recovery in accordance with the law of Pakistan? MQM will use all legal means for their recovery. We have filed petitions in Sindh High Court. It is deplorable that courts have not been able to provide justice to the people of Karachi the way they expected. Why have Karachi Police and rangers have failed to take action against the plain-cloth personnel who have been carrying our raids and abducting MQM workers. They have been doing this in a broad day light, “ Haider Abbas said.
“Law should be enforced in a legal way. It will not work if law is enforced by illegal means. They cannot enforce law by torturing workers or extracting money from workers family, “ Haider Abbas said.
