Tribeca Film Festival co-founder Robert De Niro talks about the uniqueness of the festival

More than a decade after it was launched to revitalize downtown New York following the September 11th attacks, the Tribeca Film Festival has become a showcase for documentaries and indie films and a testing ground for new talent and digital innovations.

The festival kicks off on Wednesday (April 16) and will screen more than 85 films. Fest co-founder Robert De Niro said the original vision for the event still stands 12 years after its founding.
