THE INTERVIEW - Alain Lamassoure, Member of the European Parliament

In May, voters across the EU will elect 751 MEPs to the European Parliament. Recent polls suggest anti-EU populists of both the left and right could take up to 25% of the assembly's seats. France's Front National, the Dutch Freedom Party or the UK Independence Party all draw on anti-immigrant feeling and popular dissatisfaction towards the European Union.
How can mainstream parties respond to this tide of anti-European populism? Alain Lamassoure, a Member of the European Parliament and former French European Affairs Minister, discusses these issues with Christophe Robeet.
