Superman vs Batman in Man of Steel Sequel

Zack Snyder, with the help of Harry Lennix, dropped a bomb on comic-book nerds everywhere when he announced that the upcoming Man of Steel sequel would have both, Superman and Batman sharing the screen.

The announcement came on the last day of Comic Con in San Diego, California. Snyder, the director of Man of Steel, stepped in after moderator Chris Hardwick, explaining that he had to to talk the lectern because "some shit's going to happen up in here."

Snyder continued to say that yes, they were going to make another Superman movie. He teased the crowd saying that while he can't tell the crowd what the movie was going to be about (they'd have to go see it for themselves) there was something he could help them out with.

At this point he invited Actor Harry Lennix to mic to read a famous line from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, "I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember your hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you." After his reading, a Superman/Bat-signal-logo hybrid popped up on the screen behind him. The crowd lost their marbles.

Warner Brothers put out a press release give a few more details on the film. According to their statement, "Snyder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay. Production is expected to begin in 2014, with an anticipated release date in Summer 2015." Christopher Nolan, known for his Dark Knight adaptations will be the executive producer on the film. I smell a box office hit, guys!

It is looking like Superman and Batman will have a frenemy-type relationship. Rolling Stone speculates the two will be at odds. Hmmm, wonder who would win that fight? There's no word on who will be playing Batman, but Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Laurence Fishburne will all reprise their roles in the sequel.
