11 Easy Steps for Creating an Apple Reflection

Creating the apple reflection effect in After Effects is such a piece of cake that you will surely end up scratching your head once we are done, wondering why you have not figured it out before. So, without further ado, here are the steps you need to take:
1.Open After Effects, and click "New Composition" under the "Compositions" tab.
2.Drag whichever file you want to have the reflection down into your timeline.
3.Scale it to whatever size you want or need. You can skip this part if you think your file's size is just right.
4.Go to "Edit," and click "Duplicate."
5.Change the name of the new layer by selecting it. Press "Enter" and type in "Reflection," or whichever name you would like to use.
6.Right click on "Reflection." Go to Transform, and click "Flip Vertical."
7.In the "Compositions" window, bring the reflection down to where you want it. For this step, it is advisable to put the reflection as close to the object being reflected as possible. This makes the effect more realistic.
8.With the reflection layer still selected, go to the "Rectangle Tool" in your tool panel and create a mask on the lower half of the reflection.
9.Next to "Mask 1," change the mode to "Subtract" and twirl the arrow down to reveal more properties.
10.Adjust the mask's "Feather," "Opacity," and "Expansion" until you have the look you want.
11.For a finishing touch, go up to "Effect," click "Blur & Sharpen," and click "Gaussian Blur." Turn the blurriness up to about 10-15 and change the blur dimensions to horizontal.

And that's it. You have created the apple reflection with After Effects! Easy peasy, right?
