Japan strongly opposes any attempt to change South China Sea status quo by force, defense minister says

Japanese defense minister Minoru Kihara said on Thursday Japan opposes any attempt to “unilaterally change the status quo by force” in the South China Sea after he met with the defense chiefs from the US, Australia and the Philippines in Hawaii for their second-ever joint meeting amid concerns about China's operations in the South China Sea.
