High winds of up to 100 mph damaged buildings by blowing out windows. Trees and power lines were down across the region. Storms also hit Louisiana, leaving thousands of residents without power in the New Orleans area. Flights were briefly grounded at Houston airports due to 60 mph sustained winds.
