Former Chief Justice Verma passes away

Architect of the anti-rape law Justice Verma has passed away at the age of 80. He was the 27th Chief Justice of India from March 25, 1997 until his retirement on January 18, 1998. In the aftermath of the gang rape in New Delhi, Justice Verma was appointed Chairperson of a three member commission to suggest changes required in existing laws to provide better security to women in India.
