Postal Service Launches Clothing Line

A clothing line is inspired by postal service gear.

The United States Postal Service recently announced the end of Saturday delivery due to budgetary reasons.

As a new way to bring in revenue, the USPS has partnered with a Cleveland-based fashion apparel company to create a line of clothing called ‘Rain Heat & Snow.’

The postal service will get a small percentage of sales and best of all, the garment company designs the pieces and finances everything. By 2014, the fashion line for men will arrive in specialty and department stores.

Clothing for women will premiere at a later date. All weather gear including jackets, coats, hats and footwear are part of the line and the fabrics have sweat-absorbing technology.

The USPS needs a revenue boost. Late last year, the postal service reported a $1.3 billion loss due to a decline in the volume of first class mail. Consequently, 500 offices were shut down and roughly 9,000 employees were bumped down to part time with no benefits.
