Prioritization of HR Strategies in Asia - Mario Ferraro - Part 2/3
  • 11 years ago
Prioritization of HR functions in Asia is a big challenge. Since organizations are growing so rapidly it is very alluring for HR practitioners to focus on very tactical, immediate and urgent needs, while neglecting more strategic investments and strategic initiatives that will benefit the organization in the long run.
An important priority for HR practitioners is to understand the capacity they are able to take upon themselves and what their capabilities are, thereafter they should find means to expand their capacity and extend their capabilities by leveraging external resources. For example; working with third party vendors, working with educational institutions, working with outsourcing service providers and looking at alternate strategies to supplement what they can do by themselves. Unfortunately HR practitioners in Asia tend to manage tactical and strategic priorities simultaneously, which if not done, will put them in to fire fighter mode forever.
