More than 200 people have been killed in widespread flooding in the southern Philippines, as tropical storm Washi raked across the region, the Philippine Red Cross said.

Richard Gordon, chairman of the Philippine Red Cross, told Al Jazeera on Saturday that officials had found 213 bodies so far, across three cities. He said thousands of people had sought shelter in evacuation centres in the area.

Al Jazeera's Will Jordan reports.
