Uganda's plantation workers' fate in limbo

More than 500 tree plantation workers in Uganda are set to lose their jobs after a UK-based forestry company, which hired them, decided to suspended plantations for this year in the wake of what it called bad publicity.
A report by the Oxfam international charity said thousands of people's lives had been ruined when they were evicted from their farmlands to make way for the plantations.
International Finance Corporation, an arm of the World Bank, subsequently decided to withdraw funds from the plantations.
Oxfam says the company did not comply with international regulations, and some investors had pulled out because of that.
